On the Interval of Strong Partial Clones of Boolean Functions Containing

چکیده
D. Lau raised the problem of determining the cardinality of the set of all partial clones of Boolean functions whose total part is a given Boolean clone. The key step in the solution of this problem, which was obtained recently by the authors, was to show that the sublattice of strong partial clones on {0, 1} that contain all total functions preserving the relation ρ0,2 = {(0, 0), (0, 1), (1, 0)} is of continuum cardinality. In this paper we represent relations derived from ρ0,2 in terms of graphs, and we define a suitable closure operator on graphs such that the lattice of closed sets of graphs is isomorphic to the dual of this uncountable sublattice of strong partial clones. With the help of this duality, we provide a rough description of the structure of this lattice, and we also obtain a new proof for its uncountability.

متن کاملPartial Clones Containing all Boolean Monotone Self-dual Partial Functions
The study of partial clones on 2 := {0, 1} was initiated by R. V. Freivald. In his fundamental paper published in 1966, Freivald showed, among other things, that the set of all monotone partial functions and the set of all self-dual partial functions are both maximal partial clones on 2. Several papers dealing with intersections of maximal partial clones on 2 have appeared after Freivald work. ...
متن کاملDichotomy on intervals of strong partial Boolean clones
The following result has been shown recently in the form of a dichotomy: For every total clone C on 2 := {0, 1}, the set I(C) of all partial clones on 2 whose total component is C, is either finite or of continuum cardinality. In this paper we show that the dichotomy holds, even if only strong partial clones are considered, i.e., partial clones which are closed under taking subfunctions: For ev...

Several fuzzy connectives, including those proposed by Lotfi Zadeh, can be seen as linear extensions of the Boolean connectives from the scale ${0,1}$ into the scale $[0,1]$. We discuss these extensions, in particular, we focus on the dualities arising from the Boolean dualities. These dualities allow to transfer the results from some particular class of extended Boolean functions, e.g., from c...

Universal algebra has proven to be a useful tool in the study of constraint satisfaction problems (CSP) since the complexity, up to logspace reductions, is determined by the clone of the constraint language. But two CSPs corresponding to the same clone may still differ substantially with respect to worst-case time complexity, which makes clones ill-suited when comparing running times of CSP pro...
